Jensen Hughes is a global leader in safety, security, risk-based engineering and consulting. Serving communities around the world, our fire protection engineers, technical experts, architects and consultants are dedicated to designing projects within our communities to prevent fires and incidents. Jensen Hughes has partnered with SWENext to create the Jensen Hughes Fire Safety Challenge. For this competition, we challenge high school and middle school students to create content that highlights the importance of fire safety where the audience is the community in which the students live.

What is SWENext?

SWENext is a way for girls to become a part of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) engineering community as students through the age of 18.


SWENexters have access to programs, mentors, and resources designed to develop leadership skills and self-confidence to #BeThatEngineer and succeed in engineering and technology careers. Although the program focuses on girls, all students are encouraged to get involved.

WHAT IS FIRE PROTECTION ENGINEERING?

Fire protection engineering is the application of science and engineering to better understand and prevent fire incidents to protect people and the environment. Fire protection engineers study the causes of fire and identify features in architecture and design that influence the prevention and suppression of fires.


This specialized engineering is for those looking to directly impact the communities in which they live by understanding the causes of fire incidents and implementing fire mitigation. Fire protection engineering includes various career paths, including fire investigation, consulting, research, insurance, facilities management, and more.
