The Lotte World Tower is a 123-floor, 555-meter supertall skyscraper located in Seoul, South Korea. It hosts retail, office, residential units, a hotel and an observation deck, with underground parking, operations and maintenance facilities.

The Lotte World Tower required an integrated life safety and security system and would need to be a blend of Korean and International codes. In some cases, the codes conflicted and were controversial. In other cases, the firefighting and evacuation systems were in conflict.

Where the IBC conflicted with the KBC, we assessed each situation and designed a solution for each specific case on how to move forward, which created an integrated and efficient approach to safety and accounted for the conflict between firefighting and safe evacuation.

Our solution allowed for an extremely efficient system with minimum architectural design changes, a smooth workflow with architects and engineers and a cost-effective analysis. The architectural integrity of the building was upheld because of our solution.
