Kurt is a Sr. Director and registered professional engineer in eight states. He has 29 years of experience in a wide range of fire safety projects, and his depth and breadth of experience are instrumental in his ability to advise building owners on compliance with local and international building codes and fire safety standards.
Kurt has applied his knowledge and experience in fire protection and life safety system to lead teams in the analysis and evaluation of hazardous material, and inspection/testing of fire protection systems. He has designed and specified fire suppression systems both water-based and special-hazard and designed fire detection and occupant notification fire alarm systems.
Kurt’s experience includes utilizing software-based analytical tools to support code compliance alternatives and equivalencies. His in-depth understanding of national codes and standards development is an asset in supporting clients with litigation issues as well as those with system design and code challenges. Kurt has been involved in the fire service for over 37 years and is currently a paid-on-call assistant fire chief.
Mr. Ruchala currently serves as a technical committee member on NFPA 101/NFPA 5000 Fire and Building Systems Committee and on NFPA 96 Commercial Cooking Operations. He also served for 12 years as a technical committee member for NFPA 72 National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code, two years on NFPA 652 Fundamentals of Combustible Dust committee, and nine years on NFP 720 Carbon Monoxide Detection committee.
