Larry Rietz, SET, CFPS, is a talented expert in fire detection and alarms with nearly 30 years of industry experience in systems design, education, thought leadership and industry presentations and advocacy. He is a NICET Level IV Certified (SET) Fire Alarm designer and Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) and provides fire alarm and notification system design and commissioning, smoke management, plan reviews, code compliance guidance, risk analyses and technical assessments.

Early in his career, Larry worked for a large-scale fire alarm manufacturer and service provider, then moved to consulting at Jensen Hughes, including seven years spent as the Director of the Denver office. Over those years, he led a talented team of engineers and grew the Denver business over 300% in just four years while leading and designing multiple large fire alarm and emergency communication systems for transportation sites, entertainment venues, and higher education campuses. He was also the Project Manager for the Denver International Airport Public Safety Notification Upgrade and On-Call Life Safety Systems projects.

Larry currently serves as the Fire Detection + Alarms Global Service Line Leader for Jensen Hughes as well as the Secretary of the Board of Directors for the Automatic Fire Alarm Association (AFAA) Board of Directors as Secretary. He also serves on several different UL Standards technical panels and multiple National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) technical committees.
