Ravnbakkeskolen Learning and Activity Building (LAB)
Project Profile
The new learning and activity building, Ravnbakkeskolen, in Nye near Aarhus, is envisioned as a vibrant social hub catering to educational, leisure, and cultural needs. With a focus on learning environments, the architecture emphasizes experimentation and community building.
The school's layout resembles a 'city within a city', organized into smaller houses with distinct functions, centered around a greenhouse. This central space serves as a communal heart, blending urban and natural elements to reflect the unique character of the surrounding area.
Jensen Hughes was engaged in delivering fire safety engineering for Ravnbakkeskolen using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and evaluation analysis. With a footprint of 14,000 sqm and capacity for 1,200 students across three tracks from grades 0 to 9, the facility also includes sports facilities.
Our approach to fire safety engineering entails a comprehensive analysis of the building's design, materials, and systems to pinpoint potential fire risks and formulate effective mitigation plans. Utilizing CFD technology, we conduct simulations to evaluate fire scenarios, analyze smoke dispersion, and optimize evacuation strategies to safeguard students, staff, and visitors.
Working on one of Denmark's largest new school projects, our experts conducted in-depth risk assessments, providing fire safety solutions for the building's development phase, which started in 2022 and expects to welcome its first students in 2026.Project Details
