Dale Nicholson

Dale Nicholson, SET, is a NICET IV, Senior Fire Protection Designer with over 40 years of experience designing fire suppression systems. His project expertise encompasses all types of water-based fire suppression systems, clean agent, and foam systems for government and commercial facilities. Mr. Nicholson’s project experience includes high-rise buildings, libraries, schools, hospitals, museums, laboratories, warehouses, historic buildings, theaters, and other unique/complex building designs in the mid-Atlantic region.

Mr. Nicholson’s technical experience includes: water supply testing and analysis, field surveys of existing conditions, creating suppression system and fire pump layouts, providing pump specifications, performing hydraulic calculations, material product data submittals, coordination with other trades, shop drawing submittals for AHJ/Fire Marshal/owner approval, fabrication lists, material procurement for designed systems, installation drawings, installation inspections, testing and commissioning of fire suppression and fire pump systems, creating as-built drawings, operation and maintenance manuals, evaluating system failures with suggested remedies and maintenance recommendations, and project submittal code compliance QA/QC reviews. Project management skills include: proposal generation, identifying needs and pricing for contract change orders, scheduling, leading teams, generating closeout documents while supporting and mentoring junior staff members.
