Waverley Bowling Club Redevelopment
Project Profile
Jensen Hughes was engaged by Mirvac to provide Fire Safety Engineering consultancy for the Waverley Bowling Club redevelopment. The project involved the transformation of the former Waverley Bowling Club into a new lifestyle and residential precinct featuring 55 luxury apartments for over 55s, basement car parking, a hospitality venue, bowling greens, and a wellness centre.
The key responsibility of our dedicated Fire Safety Engineering team was to develop a precinct-wide strategy for the location and interfacing of fire detection, warning, sprinkler, and hydrant infrastructure. This was achieved by collaborating with the principal architect, landscape architect, and façade engineer to assess and develop solutions to mitigate fire spread via green wall elements and external cavities. The team utilised computational fluid dynamics (CFD) smoke modelling to assess the impact of jet fans within the basement carpark on occupant evacuation and smoke hazard management. Working closely with the Mirvac team and installers throughout the construction phase, the Jensen Hughes team ensured that the fire safety measures required under the performance solution were checked and witnessed for occupation.
Jensen Hughes' Fire Safety Engineering team played a crucial role in developing a comprehensive fire safety strategy that integrated seamlessly with the architectural vision of the project. Through meticulous planning, the use of advanced technologies like CFD smoke modelling, and continuous collaboration across disciplines, the team was able to ensure the effective implementation of fire detection, warning, and suppression systems throughout the precinct. This proactive approach not only enhanced the safety of future occupants but also preserved the aesthetic and functional integrity of the development, setting a benchmark for future projects in the industry.
